Frank Smeele (1966) studied Law and European Studies at the University of Amsterdam graduating in both studies in 1991. As an undergraduate he studied a year in England at the University of Kent in Canterbury. In 1998 he obtained his Doctorate in law from Erasmus University Rotterdam and in that same year he joined the Rotterdam bar as an attorney with Van Traa Advocaten. In 2005 he was appointed professor at Erasmus School of Law where since 2007 he holds the chair of Commercial Law. Since 2016, Frank Smeele also sits occasionally as a deputy Justice in the Hague Court of Appeal.
