Federico Franchina is senior assistant professor on maritime, air and transport law, at the University of Messina (Italy) and qualified as associate professor (2018) according to Italian Scientific Qualification (ASN). He published papers, articles and one book on issues related to air, maritime and transport themes and he is a regular speakers at national and international conferences and meetings. He is also member of Italian Association of Maritime Law and of Comité Maritime International, senior aviation legal expert at European Organisation for Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL, 2017-2023) as well as external legal expert at European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Within the professional activity as lawyer, he served as legal expert at Superior Council of Public Works and Infrastructure at Italian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (2013-2016), as legal expert at Regional Ministry of Energy in Sicily (2021-2022) and he is founder and Vice President of the Italian-Cypriot Chamber of Commerce (Italy-Cyprus).
