Wouter Verheyen

Prof. Wouter Verheyen

Verheyen is professor transport and mobility law at the University Antwerp where he lectures transport law, labour law, the advanced course labour law, legal aspects of working in logistics and commercial transactions. In addition Verheyen holds a position as visiting lecturer at KULeuven where he lectures transport law. Prior to his current appointment Verheyen was Associate professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam where he was program director of the master commercial law and maritime and transport law and lectured transport law, carriage of goods, commercial transactions and marine insurance. He also held visiting lecturer positions at Universy Bayreuth and Messina University. Verheyen’s research focusses on sustainable mobility, logistics and platform economy. He was awarded EU, Flemish, Brussels, Dutch and University research grants for research in these fields and is currently supervising a team of 13 funded PhD-researchers. Verheyen is also coordinator of Pharus the Antwerp University Legal lab. In this role he advices local and national authorities, sector organisations and companies on regulatory challenges following societal disruptions in the mobilog ecosystem. Verheyen published extensively in the areas mentioned, with a specific focus in his research on CMR.
